Handwoven scarves
by Green

Nicely draping scarf Green has been studying weaving under Peggy Osterkamp for 3 years. She's reconnecting with her weaving roots: her mother's family in Kentucky included 'more weavers than you can shake a stick at'. She participates in the annual craft fair at City College in San Francisco, usually including some of her scarves, and also works as an urban farmer. She has dabbled in spinning, sews a lot, and at some point would like to make hats out of her own handwoven fabric. She likes to put on trance music or bluegrass, and weave all night long, but isn't sure that bit of info belongs on the web...

These scarves, completed in Fall 03, are a series of crammed and spaced warp structures. The soft colors and different yarn textures blend nicely, and a shot of gold makes some of them sparkle. Stripes are only on the ends.
