Spinning in San Francisco

We are organizing a regular public spin-in and get together in San Francisco, as a joint effort from the Blacksheep and Spindles & Flyers guilds. The lovely Park Branch library is graciously providing a large room with plenty of space as well as sturdy chairs, good light, and level access. In short, something that lends itself well to a bunch of wheels as well as other activities. We started in November 2002, were the only bay area guild to keep meeting through the summer (and attendance was, if anything, up then) and we're already having enough fun to keep it up indefinitely.

3rd Tuesdays of the month, 7-9pm
(Oct 21st 2003, Nov 18, Dec 16 etc..)
Park Branch Library
1833 Page st (near Cole)
San Francisco CA 94117

Notes: the meeting room is at sidewalk level, to the right of the stairs leading to the main door. Parking in that neighborhood is hell, public transportation excellent (7, 71, 33, 43, N). Draw your own conclusions, or at least try hard to carpool :-).

The aim of this is two-fold. One is to provide a space for city people to just get together and spin, since there is nothing else really nearby, every other guild meets at least an hour away. And we all live in too small spaces to allow for more than a couple people coming over :-), even if we managed to organize whose turn it'd be. The other aim is to have a convenient spot where people merely interested in spinning can try their hand at it without a big commitment in time. We all know people who'd be happy to give a spindle a whirl but who find trecking to Palo Alto or El Cerrito daunting, especially after work or with weekend transportation schedules. We always have some CD spindles and spare wool on hand for people who show up unexpectedly, so don't be shy about dragging in an unprepared friend.

Low-tech, high satisfaction

So everyone is welcome regardless of guild affiliation, skill level, or equipment. Please contact us if you need further details, or just show up :-).
