A guild is often the best way to get or get rid of equipment locally, because of the obvious availability of interested parties. So if you're a beginner, get yourself to your closest guild, it's in your best interest on many levels :-). It's likely you'll be able to try the equipment you're contemplating, and you'll get good advice from the other members about what's suitable for your needs. But otherwise there are some places online to look at, which are useful if nothing else for comparison purposes.

Ebay is a perenial favorite, if you don't mind paying for shipping and taking your chances with it. The Toys & Hobbies/Crafting, Art Supplies/Needlecraft category is the most obvious, but many people who sell fiber equipment have no idea what they have, so try searching on keywords as well. Be aware also that seller ignorance can sometimes lead to gross mis-representation of functionality, so do check with the seller before you bid.
